A colocation facility, also referred to as a "colo," is a private data center or telecommunications facility where businesses can rent space for their servers, storage devices, and other computing and networking equipment. Traditionally, colocation services involve the provision of physical infrastructure such as the building, cooling systems, power supply, voice and data network connectivity. Additionally, colocation facilities offer strong physical security measures to protect internet access and hosted equipment. As in all other data center types, sustainable operation and efficient cooling systems are of great importance in colocation facilities.
